Euractiv.com reports that the EU is due to reform its €50 billion a year farm policy from 2013, and those keen to maintain current spending levels are conscious of the need to link CAP priorities to the bloc's wider economic, social and environmental goals. There are major discussions to take place over the next two years to determine the way forward with payments to the argicultural sector and a whole range of possibilities. Developing a Europe wide solution will prove difficult.
