WattAgNet reports that the European Union has called for revised food labelling of meat products to include information such as the date of first freezing (many consumers do not realised that chilled meat they purchase in the supermarket has been previously frozen) and country of provenance i.e. where the animal was reared not just where it was slaughtered or where the major manufacturing was undertaken. The slaughtering of animal without stunning and the reforming of meat should also be labelled.
