The Telegraph reports that in Scotland about 30 per cent of boys aged between two and 15 were deemed overweight last year and 9.4 per cent weighed so much that they were morbidly obese. For girls, 27 per cent were overweight and 7.3 per cent and morbidly obese. 86% of all children were not getting their daily recommended allowance of fruit and vegetables. The Scottish Executive has calculated that despite this the proportion of children eating oily fish has increased from eight per cent to 13 per cent since 2003 and the number consuming crisps at least once a day has reduced from 50 per cent to 36 per cent for boys over this period and from 53 per cent to 35 per cent for girls. The levels of exercise are also below those recommended.
