A week ago I was having dinner with a group of friends and we went around the table quoting our favourite quote or a special piece of advice that was given to us. It amazed me how many of us quoted Winston Churchill so here are some of his pearls of wisdom:
“Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm”.
“History will be kind to me for I intend to write it”.
“Please be good enough to put your conclusions and recommendations on one sheet of paper in the very beginning of your report, so I can even consider reading it”.
“Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.”
“All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honour, duty, mercy, hope”.
For me one of the people at the table said something to me once that has stayed with me: “You do not have to put a bat to every ball that is bowled at you .... choose carefully ..” Words of wisdom indeed.
