Power station looks at mixing biomass material with coal

The Guardian reports that the  UK's largest power station, Drax, has launched a £50m project that aims to replace 10% of the coal it uses with biomass. The project will look at mixing renewable materials such as wood chips, sunflower husks or grasses with coal to generate electricity. If the project is successful it could reduce the power station's annual carbon dioxide emissions by two million tonnes per annum.
