Post number 300

I started this blog on June 9th last year and I can't believe that this is my 300th post!  I have written around 58,000 words so far!

It is ten years since blogging began and as of December 2007 Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.I guess a blog is an electronic journal; a diary of events and episodes. Mae West once said "Keep a diary and one day it will keep you!" This has been true on many occasions and many bloggers hope to reap a financial reward. Sir Walter Scott concluded that a diary was "A document useful to the person who keeps it. Dull to the contemporary who reads it and invaluable to the student, centuries afterwards, who treasures it".

When I read a journal kept by someone who is now revered and famous I wonder if they intended for their comments and anecdotes to be read by others. I guess blogging is the complete opposite of a personal diary as you are hoping that others will read and maybe comment on your thoughts and observations. Thoughts and musings maybe that is what most blogs are made of!
