Keeping busy
Thomas Edison is reported to have said that "Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing."
Again this week time seems of a premium and it means that I haven't been giving myself my own time to ponder on a subject that comes to mind and then write a post on it. I have relied on my rule of time management this week, and the week before actually and ..., one I honed when I was running a business with three children under five:
1. Is everybody fed, watered, clothed and content in the house or work environment?
2. Have I done all the things I have to do today?
3. Have I determined all the things I have to do tomorrow?
4. Have I got a list of the things I need to do if I find time?
5. Make sure I don't worry about everything else.
6. If I need to, calmly explain why my list of priorities may be different to someone else's and then negotiate how we resolve it.
7. Enjoy what I do, and do what I enjoy!
Well, I think number seven is probably the title of another blog post!
